The History of Drummond House:
-- An early photograph, circa 1900 shows the house as it was then without any front porch and a very simple, unadorned exterior.
This historic stone house was built in 1830 beside the Tay River Turning Basin that was completed just one year before. James and Daniel Campbell were both early Perth merchants and they built the house to serve as an Inn called Coyles Hotel until 1860.

Those years were a time of growth and activity for Perth and this Hotel, also known as Farmers Rest, situated so close to the canal and downtown Farmers Market would have been very busy in those early days.
From 1861 to 1992 the house was a private residence. From 1992 to 2004 it was operated as a Bed and Breakfast. A large original stone fireplace is still visible in the kitchen. Note the deep windowsills and the simple, yet elegant wood mouldings.
The present owners, Patricia and Dave Edwards recently re-opened their newly renovated home as the Drummond House Perth Bed and Breakfast where they now welcome guests with warmth and hospitality.
